By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Dec. 24: With the theme ‘Social Transformation: A Campaign of Fine Arts,’ the Gandaki Provincial Fine Arts Exhibition 2082 is scheduled to be held from January 29 to February 2.
The exhibition is set to be held at the gallery of the Gaindakot Municipal Academy in Gaindakot.
The exhibition is being jointly organised by the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts and the Gaindakot Municipal Academy/Gaindakot Municipality.
Devendra Kumar Kafle ‘Thumkeli’, Member Secretary of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, said that the exhibition will feature artworks from Gandaki Province, including contemporary painting, contemporary sculpture, traditional sculpture, craft and handicrafts, architecture and folk art, traditional painting, multidisciplinary works, and other creative art forms.
He added that, alongside the exhibition, the objective is to conduct surveys of art and artists, identify arts and artists at the provincial, local, and community levels, and highlight their significance.
Bhim Prasad Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of the Gaindakot Municipal Academy, said that the exhibition will be organised as a festival celebrating artists of Gandaki Province.
Similarly, Govind Raj Binodi, Chancellor of the Gaindakot Municipal Academy, said that preparations are underway to celebrate the exhibition as a historic festival.
The Nepal Academy of Fine Arts and the Gaindakot Municipal Academy share a common objective of the overall development of the Nepali fine arts sector.
To achieve this, they conduct various activities such as research and study, training programmes, workshops, seminars, conferences, festivals, competitions, exhibitions, and initiatives aimed at improving the living standards of artists.
Similarly, the academies aim to promote Nepali fine arts at national and international levels, provide honours, recognition, and awards, establish libraries, galleries, and museums, offer creative grants, scholarships, and fellowships, and work toward the conservation, promotion, and development of Nepal’s indigenous craftsmanship and traditional arts, along with various other aspects of fine arts.
The Provincial Fine Arts Exhibition will be held in Koshi Province from February 2 to 16, Madhesh Province from January 30 to February 3, Bagmati Province from February 20 to 24, Lumbini Province from January 31 to February 4, Karnali Province from February 2 to 6, Sudurpashchim Province from February 4 to 8.
