RSP President Lamichhane released on bail

Bhairahawa (Rupandehi), Dec 19: President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rabi Lamichhane, has been released on bail on Friday evening. 

The Butwal bench of Tulsipur High Court on Thursday had issued an order for Lamichhane's release on bail.

As per court order, Lamichhane, who was in Nakkhu jail, Lalitpur reached Bhairahawa district in-person and completed every procedure for the release. The bail amount was already deposited in the bank with official documentation.

However, Lamichhane had to wait for long to get aboard from Kathmandu to Bhairahawa due to adverse weather on Friday. He was said to be brought early. Later, he was brought to Bharatpur by plane and then to Bhairahawa via road. 

President Lamichhane was finally produced before Rupandehi District Court at 5:00pm. 

Upon his release on bail, Lamichhane said, "He is yet to get justice. I hope I will be ensured justice. Let's have patience."

Earlier, the District Court, Rupandehi had denied his release on bail despite submitting the bank deposit, which prompted Lamichhane to knock the High Court.

Information Officer at District Court, Padam Aryal, informed that Lamichhane deposited Rs 37.4 million as bail. 

Lamichhane has been facing the case of misappropriation of cooperatives fund. (RSS)
