By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Dec. 19: The 8th edition of Woodnotes of Subarnarekha, a two-day literature and cultural festival held in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand Province, India, featured three Nepali authors as special guests.
The Nepali delegation, led by Bidhan Acharya comprised Ram Gopal Ashutosh and Avaya Shrestha.
The cherishing festival, organised by Sur-O-Sahityo Welfare Trust, was held in the heart of the steel city of Tatanagar on December 14 and 15. The first day featured international poetic melodies, while the second day was devoted to dance, music, yoga and painting.
The Nepali delegation participated in literary discourse and poetry recitation sessions.
Writer Acharya, along with the District Judge of Jamshedpur, Arvind Kr. Pandey and others jointly inaugurated the festival.
While delivering his inaugural speech, Acharya introduced the term 'Himalayan Culture' as the subcontinent's shared heritage, earning widespread praise for his perspective.
Ram Gopal Ashutosh traced the latest tendencies of Nepali writing. "Nepali literature of today voices the identity politics," he asserted. "It's a voice of the suppressed."
Avaya Shrestha presented the representative scenario of Nepali literature. "Nepali writing, of late, dreams of change, justice and peace." He said, "It does not dream of peace without justice."
Moreover, Nepali delegates, along with Bangla poets and others, released the souvenir of the festival.
General secretary of the festival, Dr. Supriyo Bhattacharjee, welcomed the Nepali delegates, while founder and trustee of Sur-O-Sahityo Welfare Trust, Dola Bajpayee, felicitated them.
Nabokumar, a famous singer from Calcutta, presented some songs, receiving an overwhelming applause and calls for an encore from the audience.
Likewise, famous writers from various provinces of India, including Chandra Shekhar Bhattacharjee, Nag Sen, Meghnad Ghosal, Mahibur Raheman presented their creations.
Similarly, poets from different language spoken in India, including Moni Soren, Nibai Soren, Saro Hasdan, Sawarn Soren, Joba Murmu, Durga Prasad Murmu, Sudipta Jethi Raut, Nisar Amin, Rafikul Islam, Minakshi Karan, Padma Mishra, Sushanta Kumar, Vivek Singh others presented their poems.
