By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Dec 9: Munu Mahawar, an additional secretary at India’s Ministry of External Affairs who is in charge of the Nepal and Bhutan desk, has paid a courtesy call on Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal.
Bilateral relations and mutual interests between Nepal and India were discussed in the courtesy meeting.
Mahawar, who arrived in Nepal on Sunday, and Home Minister Aryal have expressed their commitment to provide full support for the upcoming House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5.
Similarly, Additional Secretary Mahawar also expressed the need to ensure the availability of necessary resources and equipment for the upcoming elections, including the security forces.
Assistance in the reconstruction of Jajarkot after the earthquake and the restoration and management of structures damaged by various disasters was also committed.
He expressed the idea of helping in the timely completion of the Integrated Check Post (ICP) under construction at Bhairahawa–Belhiya border and the Indian-invested projects in Nepal.
In a similar meeting, Additional Secretary Mahawar also invited Home Minister Aryal to visit India at an appropriate time.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Aryal also expressed concern about the need to expedite the construction of the dry port under construction in Dodhara (Chandani).
Home Minister Aryal said that the current government has played an effective role in good governance, law enforcement, service delivery, public peace, and crime control.
He emphasized the need to enhance the capacity of security agencies on both sides and make information exchange between counterparts more effective to control crime, theft, robbery, illegal trade, and criminal activities in the border area.
In a similar meeting, Minister Aryal expressed the view that the construction work of the Nepal Police Academy, which is being built in Panauti, Kavre, should be accelerated by both sides.
