By A Staff Reporter,Lalitpur, Dec. 5: A song titled ‘Banchha Banchha Mero Desh Banchha,’ written by Nepali Congress central member and writer Nain Singh Mahar, was released amid a programme held in Lalitpur on Wednesday.

Sung by Pramod Kharel, with music composed by Hari Lamsal, the patriotic music video features Rajesh Hamal, Mahabir Pun, Pradeep Kumar Rai (Byakul Maila), social activist Anuradha Koirala, Olympian Deepak Bisht, Nain Singh Mahar, Miss Pabi, Astina Mahar, Animesh Mahar and Sabina Tamang, among others.

Directed by Dasharath Sunar, the music video carries a dream and hope of how the country can progress.

The song was unveiled at an event by the composer of national anthem Pradeep Kumar Rai in Lalitpur.

Lyricist Mahar said that the song was written during the formation of a Congress-UML coalition government.

He said, “The government was formed with the idea of turning people’s despair into hope. I had written this song with the thought what that government would do to instil hope among the people.”

This is Mahar’s first song. He said, “At a time when hopelessness is increasing in society, I have tried to share dreams and instil hope through this song.”

Singer Pramod Kharel said that although politics and literature are different fields, the path chosen by Nain Singh is positive. He expressed confidence that the song can convey a message of hope to society.

Senior journalist Purushottam Dahal said that art, literature, and culture are the identity of a nation, and without them, a country cannot survive.

Lyricist Dr. Bhola Rijal said that although Mahar has already been influential in politics, this patriotic song ‘Mero Desh Banchha’ will add to his recognition in writing. He said, “After watching the song, I remembered my old songs. I too believe that the nation will develop.”

National anthem lyricist Byakul Maila said that writers should be able to publicly present creations that lead society and the nation in a positive direction.

At the programme, former minister Bhakt Bahadur Balayar, Olympian Deepak Bisht, Deuda singer Nanda Krishna Joshi, Congress leader Ram Hari Khatiwada, Urmila Thapaliya and other speakers extended their best wishes for the success of the song.

Talking to The Rising Nepal, Mahar said that he had been fascinated by music since childhood. Hailed from Sudurpashchim, he was inspired by his mother, who used to sing Deuda. After coming to Kathmandu, he sang folk duet songs and also wrote three election songs for the Nepali Congress.

Considering the current situation of the country, where many Nepalis are feeling despair, he wants to bring hope to the people by reminding them that Nepal still has many possibilities and that the country will progress.

He has already brought seven books to the market. Through speeches and books, he shared political knowledge and insights on the country’s development. This time, however, he wants to motivate and communicate with the public through music.”
