Shrestha awarded Leo Tolstoy Medal

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Dec. 5: Nepali writer Ram Bindu Shrestha, along with Russian writer Tamara Potyomkina,  was honoured with the Leo Tolstoy Medal during the Proxima Centauri Conference, a literary festival, held  recently in Moscow.

Shrestha received the Bolshaya Proxima Award in the 'Best Book' category for the Russian version of his memoir Mera Soviet Samjhanaharu (My Soviet Memories), while Potemkina received the award for her book 'The Invincible Russian Spirit,' a book dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War of Russia.

Established in 2019 to support contemporary writers and strengthen literary groups, the festival features a variety of events dedicated to literature.

The Russian version of Mera Soviet Samjhanaharu was translated and edited by Tamara Potemkina. The book was also included in the top three list of the ‘SahityaPost Uttam Best Nonfiction– 2079 BS’ in Nepal.
