Kathmandu, Dec 3: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagdish Kharel, said that the government is committed to ensuring rights, equality and equity for people with disabilities. 

On the occasion of 34th International Day of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) at a function organized on the premises of Bhrikutimandap here today, Minister Kharel expressed confidence that the government will provide a disability-friendly policy and structural cooperation.

Minister Kharel expressed confidence that the guidelines for supporting people with disabilities will be implemented soon.

He said, " Earlier leaders said that they would perform, but they did not. I will do the deed first, then will make it known. We are suffering from giving commitment without actually doing the work."

A morning procession has been organized here today under the leadership of Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel on the occasion of the 34th International Day of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

Placards were presented with the slogan, Let's end discrimination against people with disabilities, Let's establish easy access to public institutions, schools, public vehicles, roads, parks, monasteries, government and public and private structures, in the procession. 

A morning procession starting from Khula Mancha(Open theatre) converged and became a public meeting at Bhrikuti Mandap. 

Representatives from the federal, provincial and local levels, concerned bodies, Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and Nepal Scouts participated in the morning procession.
