Kathmandu, Dec 3: A morning rally has been organized to mark the Int'l Day of Persons with Disabilities in the federal capital today.
Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagdish Kharel, led the rally where the attendants carried placards, advocating for rights to persons living with disabilities (PWD).
The placards have also displayed the slogans as 'ensure PWDs' access to public places', 'end discrimination against PWDs' and 'establish PWDs' rights'.
The rally, begun from Khulamanch, converged into a gathering after reaching Bhrikutimandap.
It was attended by people's representatives from federal, provincial and local governments, the security agencies and the Nepal Scout.
The Day is being observed every year since 1992 at the initiative of the United Nations for the protection and promotion of the rights of PWD. The theme for this year is “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress.” (RSS)
