Journalist Dhungana to be conferred on Human Rights Award

Kathmandu, Dec 3: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has decided to confer awards to the persons contributing to the protection and promotion of human rights for this year, 2025.

Journalist Menuka Dhungana reporting from Achham district is being conferred on the Human Rights Award-2025 for her contribution, especially to the women rights and justice through journalism in remote places.

Similarly, 'Late Dayaram Pariyar Memorial Honour-2025' will be handed over to Shankar Limbu from Ilam district for his untiring efforts to ensure rights, especially to the indigenous nationalities. 

The NHRC meeting held on Tuesday decided to distribute the awards as per recommendation of a committee formed under the coordination of NHRC Member Manoj Duwadi, according to Spokesperson Dr Tikaram Pokharel.

Each recipient will get Rs 50,000 in cash and felicitation letter amidst a programme to be organized on the occasion of the International Human Rights Day- December 10.(RSS)
