Gorkhapatra starts publishing contents in Kulung language

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Dec. 2: The Gorkhapatra daily has started publishing media contents in the Kulung language.

With the publishing of contents in Kulung language today in the Gorkhapatra, the number of national languages that the national daily offers its contents has reached 46.

Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel made public the content published in the Kulung language in the Gorkhaptra today amid a special ceremony held at the Kirant Kulung Community Cultural Building, Gokarneshwor.

Minister Kharel expressed pride in having to participate with the Kulung people to unveil the Kulung language page in the Gorkhapatra and added, "The government is striving to reach to the doorstep of the people. All languages in the country are nation's assets, and they all need to be promoted."

On the occasion, the Minister highlighted that the government was in a campaign to maintain good governance and hold the HoR election on March 5.

Likewise, secretary of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology Ministry Radhika Aryal viewed that addition of Kulung language in Gorkhapatra was a part of campaign to build inclusive Nepal.

On the occasion, Chandra Singh Kulung, chairman of Nepal Kirant Kulung Language Upliftment Association, presented Fega (cultural attire of Kulung) as a token of love to Minister Kharel.

Speaking in the event, general manager of the Gorkhapatra Corporation, Lal Bahadur Airi, viewed that the Gorkhapatra has been playing a significant role in promoting national languages and that publishing of the content in the Kulung language in the daily would add additional value to its role.

He said the Gorkhapatra was being published in 46 national languages and said that the Communication Ministry and the Language Commission had made remarkable contribution in this regard.

Deep Kumar Risal, Mayor of Gokarneshwor Municipality, offered support and necessary assistance to Gorkhapatra in conservation and promotion of culture and language as the municipality was also doing the same in its part.

The Gorkhapatra started publishing contents in different national languages of the country since September 18, 2007 dedicating a separate page named 'New Nepal Multilingual Page' within it.
