AI training for trekking agencies begins

Kathmandu, Nov 30: A four-day training programme on IT-friendly tourism and AI commenced here today, with participation from various trekking companies.     

The training focuses on the application of artificial intelligence in tourism, destination development, capacity enhancement, and tourism safety.     

Speaking at the inaugural session, Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) Chief Executive Officer Deepak Raj Joshi echoed the need of technology use in advancing the tourism industry, stating that the training is highly relevant in the present context.     

Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) President Sagar Pandey said the AI training would help modernize the tourism sector and better connect it with the new generation.     

TAAN Senior Vice President Karma Sherpa highlighted the essential role of AI in the digital age, while CEO Ramchandra Sedai was of the view that the programme would help enhance the professional competency of trekking companies.     

The training has been jointly organized by TAAN, the NTB, and the UNDP Sustainable Tourism Project.(RSS)
