By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Nov. 25: Minister for Home Affairs Om Prakash Aryal on Monday conducted an on-site inspection of the Integrated Check Post (ICP) under construction at Bhairahawa–Belhiya border point in Siddharthanagar Municipality, Rupandehi, and the Border Security Company of the Armed Police Force Nepal located in Danda.
The Home Minister arrived in Bhairahawa on Monday ahead of the province-level security conference scheduled to begin in Lumbini Province from Tuesday.
Before inspecting the ICP, Minister Aryal visited the Maya Devi Temple in Lumbini, where he observed the surroundings and received a briefing on the overall situation of the heritage site.
He was accompanied by Home Secretary Rameshwar Dangal, Inspector General of Nepal Police Dan Bahadur Karki, Chief of the Armed Police Force Raju Aryal, Chief Investigation Officer of the National Investigation Department Tekendra Karki, Rupandehi’s Chief District Officer, as well as the provincial and district chiefs of Nepal Police and the Armed
Police Force.
While observing the check post, the minister held discussions with Chief Customs Officer Harihar Paudel and obtained updates on the physical progress and the services to be delivered once the facility (ICP) comes into operation.
According to the Home Ministry’s Secretariat, Paudel briefed the minister that the ICP has achieved 79 per cent physical progress and 77 per cent financial progress to date.
Later the same day, Minister Aryal visited the Armed Police Force’s Border Security Company in Danda, Bhairahawa, to assess the overall state of border security and ground realities.
During the inspection, he instructed the company commander to act strictly to curb potential undesirable activities along the Nepal–India border, prevent revenue leakage, and ensure that Nepali citizens are not subjected to unnecessary hardship or inconvenience while crossing the border.
The minister also directed district-level security chiefs to intensify efforts against the illegal movement of goods and control activities stemming from the open border.
