By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Nov. 24: South Asian University (SAU) has recently set up the Centre for Inspiring the Rights of Children for Learning and Empowerment (CIRCLE) under the leadership of Prof. K. K. Aggarwal, President, South Asian University.
Dr. Daksha Sharma, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Legal Studies (FLS) at South Asian University, said that the centre would serve as a centre of excellence in knowledge generation, advocacy, community outreach, and training on child rights.
Dr. Dev Nath Pathak pointed out that the working area of the centre was relevant to everyone in society, which motivated them to make the centre interdisciplinary in nature.
Stuti Narain Kacker, Chancellor, Subharti University, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, said that the centre would become a platform to share, learn, and gain the best experience of child rights and protection of all eight nations.
Shri Priyank Kanoongo, member of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), India, said that there was a requirement to work extensively on child rights and child protection at the international level. He also appreciated the policies and schemes of the Indian government formulated for the protection, welfare and development of children.
Dr Balram Prasad Raut, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Legal Studies (FLS), South Asian University, informed that the inaugural programme of CIRCLE endorsed a resolution to work extensively in the field of childhood studies and child rights.
CIRCLE would operate under the Faculty of Social Sciences, South Asian University.
