By A Staff Reporter,Lalitpur, Nov. 24: Nepalbhasa literary critic Jyoti Tuladhar has brought out a book of literary criticism titled 'Adhunik Kavya Wa Bidrohya Sa' (Voices of Rebellion and Modern Poetry) in Nepalbhasa.
Chancellor of the Nepalbhasa Academy, Malla K Sundar, along with poets Narmadeshwar Pradhan, Suresh Kiran, Rajani Mila, and Hitkarbir Singh Kangsakar, made the book public amid an event organised by Kavitaya Layaku (The Poetry Palace) in the Patan Gallery, Lalitpur, on Saturday.
The book consists of the critiques on the poems of ten Nepalbhasa poets, including Purna Baidhya, Budhdha Sayami, Ananda Joshi, Shyam Sundar Saiju, Sundar Madhikarmi, Yogendra Pradhananga, Narmadeshwar Pradhan, Pratisara Sayami, Suresh Kiran and Rajani Mila. It also presents an in-depth study of modern literature in the Nepalbhasa language.
Chancellor Sundar traced the history of Nepalbhasa literature and praised Tuladhar’s profound study.
"The role of rebellion in modern poetry and its indispensability in driving social transformation is unforgettable," he said.
Reviewing the book, Prof. Prem Shanti Tuladhar noted that various critical approaches had been employed, and that the critiques focused on a particular style of Nepalbhasa poetry that centred on the voice of rebellion.
"Tuladhar’s work analyses the ideological and rebellious dimensions of modern Nepalbhasa poetry in a systematic and scholarly manner," she remarked.
Poet Rajanimila, who is also the secretary of Kavitaya Layku, spoke about the voices of rebellion in poetry, the messages it conveys to society, and the challenges poets face.
She appreciated Tuladhar’s contribution to the promotion of the Nepalbhasa language and literature.
The programme also featured a poetry-reading session, where senior poets Yogendra Pradhanang, Rajani Mila, Suresh Kiran, and others presented poems reflecting themes of rebellion and social consciousness.
Writer Tuladhar, who is also the chairperson of the Kavitaya Layaku, remarked that Nepalbhasa literature is immensely rich. "Modern poetry is portrayed not merely as a product of imagination, but as a powerful tool of social, political, and cultural resistance," she stated.
Meanwhile, several distinguished poets, including Narmadeshwar Pradhan, Ananda Joshi, Keshabman Shakya, Yogendra Pradhan, Nabin Chitrakar, Dhruba Madhikarmi, Pratisara Sayami, Suresh Kiran, Ishwari Maiya Shrestha, Laxmi Mali, Narad Bajracharya, Sudan Khusa, Shreeram Shrestha, Pushparatna Tuladhar, Pushaparaj Karnikar, Kedar Shrestha, RaSa, Sudhir Khwabi, Basanta Nakarmi, Nabinprakash Shrestha, Ram Gopal Ashutosh, Raami Priya, Avaya Shrestha, Sushil Rajopadhyay, Tuyu Pun and others, were honoured with the honourary membership of the the Kavitaya Layku's Shool of Thoughts.
