Kathmandu, Nov 22: The XVI International Conference of the Society of Surgeons of Nepal, with a theme - Global Surgical Excellence: Advancements in Skill and Technology - concluded here today.
The three-day event brought together over 600 participants, including 200 international delegates, offering a unique platform for knowledge exchange and networking, according to SSN.
The conference saw four distinguished orations, serving as a significant forum for the convergence of senior and internationally renowned surgeons from across the globe.
This international conference was attended by international delegates including surgeons from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Egypt, Germany, India, Maldives, Pakistan, Russia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, the United States, and many other countries.
There were more than 200 scientific activities, including 177 scientific research papers on various aspects of surgery, 27 scientific posters, 68 guest lectures, 15 surgical video presentations, two debates, four panel discussions, and one wellness session.
The scientific programme featured the conferment of the Best Young Surgeon Award and the Best Paper Presentation Award, in recognition of academic excellence and innovation.
Fourteen international surgeons have been honoured with the fellowship of the 'Society of Surgeons'. Similarly, three senior Nepali surgeons have been honoured with the Senior Surgeon Award.
In addition, dedicated nursing sessions were organized to provide an avenue for professional development, while a series of pre-conference workshops, including advanced modules on laparoscopic surgery, facilitating in-depth skill enhancement were the other highlights of the three-day event.
Similarly keynote lectures and structured panel discussions on various topics of contemporary surgery were organized ensuring a comprehensive and academically rigorous experience for all participants.
The event was a useful forum for advancing surgical knowledge, fostering innovation, and strengthening professional ties within the global surgical community, the SSN stated.
At the conference, SSN signed a memorandum of understanding with the Surgical Societies of India and Sri Lanka for the bilateral professional and scientific development of surgeons with these countries.
"It emerged as a platform that promotes scholarly exchange, professional networking, and the advancement of international collaborations within the global surgical community," according to SSN.
Established in June 1992, the primary mission of SSN is to create a robust platform for surgeons to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and collaborate for mutual benefits.
