By A Staff Reporter,Humla, Nov. 15: A total of 975 new voters have been added to the Himalayan district of Humla following the reopening of the voter registration process.
According to District Election Office Chief Bhim Bahadur Rokaya, 975 new voters were registered as of November 1. The majority of these registrants are young individuals.
During the 2022 elections, Humla district had a total of 32,333 registered voters. With the recent additions, the total number of registered voters now stands at 33,308.
Among the newly registered voters, one individual is 74 years old, while the remaining are youths aged between 18 and 30 years. Rokaya expressed satisfaction at the increased youth participation, noting that young people had previously exhibited less interest in registering.
Currently, four to five individuals visit the office daily, excluding holidays, to register their names. The Election Commission permitted voter registration until October 30, and the office anticipates that the number of new registrants will continue to rise during this period.
Details of individuals who registered from outside the district will also be forwarded to the Humla office, upon which the final tally of voters will be confirmed.
The district election office also stated that all political parties in Humla are cooperating effectively in the voter registration campaign.
