By Yadu Prasad Bhatta,Manang, Nov. 13: After days of slowdown caused by heavy snowfall, tourism activities in Manang have begun returning to normal.
According to the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) checkpoint in Manang, more than 270 foreign visitors have been arriving daily in recent days. Data from the checkpoint showed that 196 tourists registered on November 6, 286 on November 7, 297 on November 8, and 268 on November 9, indicating that tourism activities, which had paused briefly due to snowfall, are now recovering steadily.
Dhak Bahadur Bhujel, chief of the ACAP Area Conservation Office in Manang, said that trekking routes had been affected by snow and cold for a few days, but stable weather has allowed travel to resume. “The arrival of tourists has increased again with much enthusiasm. After the snowfall, the flow was low for a few days, but now the movement is back to its usual level,” Bhujel said.
Hotel entrepreneur Phurba Lama also said that most hotels are once again fully booked.
As Manang lies along the popular Annapurna Circuit trekking route, its tourism activity significantly contributes to the national tourism economy. Known for its mountain landscapes, valleys and warm local hospitality, the region remains a top choice for international trekkers.
Bhupendra Jung Gurung, an officer at the Dharapani checkpoint, said that although travel was difficult immediately after the snowfall, the trails are now safe for trekking if travellers are well-prepared for the weather.
ACAP has advised trekkers to take precautions while travelling in high-altitude areas, recommending they trek in groups and carry adequate warm clothing.
Manang’s snow-covered scenery, highland atmosphere, and welcoming locals are once again drawing visitors, bringing renewed energy to the local economy.
