By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Nov. 12: Lalitpur Metropolitan City has installed a fire emergency notification system in the Patan Durbar Square area.
Mayor Chiri Babu Maharjan inaugurated the system during a programme held on Tuesday. According to him, the system has been installed with the aim of providing necessary information for immediate response and control during fire-related disasters.
Mayor Maharjan informed that the system is currently being operated on a trial basis, and if it functions effectively, it will be installed at all intersections across Lalitpur.
On the occasion, Mayor Maharjan also claimed that Lalitpur Metropolitan City has performed better than all other municipalities in the country in the field of disaster management.
He said, “We are testing this now to see how well it works. If it works perfectly, we will install this system at every intersection in Lalitpur Metropolitan City.”
This initiative reflects Lalitpur Metropolitan City’s commitment to establishing a fire emergency safety system in other areas as well. The system will be implemented in all 29 wards as soon as possible.
The inventor of the system, young scientist Suman Poudel, has provided his services free of cost.
