Kathmandu, Nov 11: Fifty-nine incidents related to violation of press freedom were reported in the last three months, according to the Press Council Nepal.
Such number of incidents of violation of press freedom took place from July 17 to October 17. Of these incidents, the highest number (34) was related to attack and manhandling, shared senior administrative officer and spokesperson of the Council, Deepak Khanal.
Similarly, 10 incidents were related to threat and misbehave, eight were related to professional insecurity, five concerning obstruction and two related to policy-level restriction.
Province-wise, 44 such type of incident occurred in Bagmati province while six occurred in Madhes, four in Lumbini, three in Koshi and one in Sudurpaschim.
Forty-three men and three women journalists were victimized in the incidents occurred during the period. Two incidents of misuse of press freedom took place in Bagmati province and one in Madhes Province.
Meanwhile, a team of the Press Council Nepal had made onsite visit to media houses in Kathmandu Valley that came under vandalism and arson attack during Gen Z protest occurred on September 8 and 9.(RSS)
