By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Nov. 5: Four industries operating in Rupandehi district that consumed electricity through dedicated and trunk lines have paid the first installment of their premium tariff arrears to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) on Monday.
According to the NEA, Panchakanya Plastic Industries, Panchakanya Steel Industries, Siddhartha Pet Plant and Shyam Plastic—located in the Bhairahawa industrial area—paid their first installment of arrears on Monday.
Following the payment, the NEA reconnected their previously disconnected power lines, said Manoj Silwal, Managing Director of the Authority.
The industries have paid the first installment of the premium tariff for using dedicated and trunk lines from February 2016 to May 2018.
Panchakanya Plastic Industries owes around Rs. 2.46 million, Panchakanya Steel Industries Rs. 5.21 million, Siddhartha Pet Plant Rs. 18.3 million, and Shyam Plastic Rs. 4.91 million in total arrears.
The industries have paid the first installment by dividing the arrears into 28 installments.
The NEA said that the clearance of the first installment marks a positive step toward resolving the long-standing issue of arrears from industries using dedicated and trunk line electricity connections.
Earlier, several industrial firms, including Hulas Steel, Ashok Steel, Hama Iron and Steel, Samrat Cement, Rolpa Cement, and Nawa Nepal Plastic Industries had resumed paying their dues under installment arrangements.
