BY A STAFF REPORTER,Kathmandu, Nov. 2: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has continued her consultations with the leaders of various political parties regarding the upcoming elections.
As part of her effort to build consensus among the political parties for the March 5, 2026 polls, she held
discussions with Nepali Congress general secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwo Prakash Sharma on Saturday.
According to the Prime Minister’s Chief Personal Secretary,

In response, Thapa and Sharma said, “Although a formal decision is yet to be made, the Nepali Congress is committed to going to the polls. We will make an official decision soon. We believe that the CPN-UML also cannot avoid elections if the nation is to move forward.
The government should make further efforts to bring the CPN-UML on board, and we will also do our part.”
The two NC leaders also stated that their party would soon hold intensive dialogues with the Gen-Z youths and other political parties. They emphasised that all political forces, including Gen-Z, should engage in serious discussions to determine which of the youth movement’s demands could be addressed before the elections and which issues could be decided upon in the first sessio n of the Parliament after the elections.
Prime Minister Karki had also invited leaders of the CPN-UML for discussions.
However, as the UML had a party meeting scheduled on the same day, they did not attend the meeting on Saturday and scheduled it for another day.
Earlier, Prime Minister Karki had held several rounds of talks with leaders from different political parties. Under her initiative, a tripartite dialogue among the government, political parties, and Gen-Z youth representatives was held in a cordial atmosphere a few days ago.
