Rajbiraj (Saptari), Oct 6: Continuous rainfall has caused significant disruption to daily life in the district.
The heavy rains have led to flooding in the Triyuga, Khando, Koshi, and Jita rivers, resulting in inundation of over five hundred homes and affecting 1,156 residents. The flooding in riverside and coastal communities has severely disrupted the lives of local inhabitants. The Triyuga River's floodwaters have inundated more than 200 houses across various wards of Saptakoshi Municipality.
Following the intense rainfall, the River 'Overflow' has submerged Bochahi village in Ward No. 6. After the collapse of six houses in this ward, families have been safely relocated to the National Basic School Bochahi, as reported by Chief District Officer Tuwaraj Pokharel.
The District Police Office has indicated that 256 families across nine other locations in the district have also been affected by the flooding. In Ward No. 9 of Dakneshwori Municipality, water has entered 15 homes.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Dambar Bahadur Puri from the District Police Office reported that a house has collapsed in Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality-12, affecting 40 individuals, and another house in Rajgadh Rural Municipality-6 has also been impacted, while floods from the Khando River have submerged the entire village in Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality-1. In Tilathi Koiladi-4, 15 houses have been inundated, and in Hanumannagar Kankalini-14, 11 houses have been affected. A rescue team led by Superintendent of Police Gotam KC has saved 38 individuals trapped by the floods from various locations in the district.
The team rescued 12 people from Saptakoshi Municipality-6, eight from Hanumannagar Kankalini-12, seven from Rajgadh Rural Municipality-6, and 11 from Tilathi Koiladi-4, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Puri. (RSS)
