Road accidents across country leave 10 dead

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Oct. 5: Road accidents across the country have left 10 dead on Saturday.

According to our reporter Radha Luitel from Phidim, a tragic road accident on Saturday in Panchthar’s Kummayak Rural Municipality-3 along the Tamor Corridor claimed the lives of six people and left six others injured.

The incident took place when a Bolero jeep with registration number Me. 1 Ja 3055 fell approximately 300 metres off the road in the Kattike section of the Tamor Corridor. The vehicle was heading towards Dharan from Mikwakhola, Taplejung-4. 

So far, only four of the six deceased have been identified. The deceased have been identified as Dhankumar Limbu, Dipesh Kedem, Manisha Karki of Meringden-5 and Gita Hangam of Meringden-4, Taplejung. 

The injured include Dhan Kumar Limbu (Meringden-5), 25-year-old Manu Sanwa Limbu (Mikwakhola-4), 7-year-old Anish Limbu (Sidingwa-2, Taplejung), 35-year-old Mahesh Guragain (Itahari-7, Sunsari), 25-year-old Bimal Limbu (Meringden-5), and 29-year-old Sanjuhang Limbu (Mikwakhola-4, Taplejung). Most of the injured suffered injuries to the head and waist.

The bodies of the deceased persons have been brought to Panchthar Hospital for post-mortem, while the injured

were taken to B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, for treatment.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Meanwhile RSS adds from Saptari that three people died in separate road accidents in Saptari district on Saturday. 

Two motorcyclists died on the spot after a head-on collision between two bikes at Banauli in Khadak municipality-11, along the Postal Highway. The deceased have been identified as Chintamani Chaudhary, 28, of Khadak municipality-10, and Sobin Chaudhary of Surunga municipality-7.

According to the District Police Office, Saptari, the motorcycles bore registration numbers Madhesh Pradesh 2-01-003 Pa 6932 and Madhesh Province 01-005 Pa 6832.

In another in cident, a 70-year-old woman was fatally hit by a Hiace while crossing the road at Dhanapuri in Tirahut rural municipality-1. She is Jagiya Devi Panjiyar of the same locality. Police said the driver has been taken into custody along with the vehicle for further investigation. 

Likewise, a bus (Ba 2 Kha 1907) met with an accident on the Boradandi road section in Dhangadhi, Kailali, on Sunday afternoon, resulting in one death and injuries to 12 passengers. The bus was bound for Pokhara from Dhangadhi when the accident occurred.

Police confirmed the death of Ganesh Bahadur Shahi, 62, a resident of Dhangadhi sub-metropolis-4. 

The remaining 12 passengers were injured, with one reported to be in critical condition. They are presently receiving treatment at various hospitals in Dhangadhi.
