By Our Correspondent,Taplejung, Sept. 27: Flights have resumed at Suketar Airport in Taplejung. The flights, which had been disrupted due to adverse weather conditions, have started after nearly two months.
With the improvement in the weather, flights resumed at Suketar on Friday.
According to Narayan Kumar Karki, the station manager of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) in Taplejung, a plane arrived from Kathmandu with 14 passengers. The same plane flew back to Kathmandu with nine passengers from Taplejung, as confirmed by Karki.
NAC’s Twin Otter aircraft operates a weekly flight on Fridays between Kathmandu–Taplejung–Kathmandu. During the monsoon season, adverse weather conditions had caused flight disruptions at Suketar Airport since the third week of July.
In the meantime, planes flying from Kathmandu to Taplejung had been forced to return after attempting to land at Suketar on four occasions due to weather issues.
However, with the weather now improving, Karki stated that flights will resume as per the scheduled timetable. Passengers and tourism businesses are delighted that flights have resumed during the festive season and the tourist season.
