By Our Correspondent,Siddharthanagar, Sept. 25: The ‘Dashain Sasto Bazar 2082’ – a market to sell goods at cheaper price – has started in Bhairahawa of Rupandehi district on Wednesday.
Krishna Prasad Sharma, President of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Lumbini Province, inaugurated the market organised by the Siddhartha Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).
Speaking on the occasion, Sharma said that such markets play an important role in conveying the message that quality Nepali products are available at affordable prices. He emphasised the need to continue these markets to discourage the tendency of cross-border shopping.
He also expressed confidence that these markets would encourage Nepali consumers to purchase goods from the domestic market. The market, which is being operated at the association’s building in Siddharthanagar Municipality-12, will remain open until September 28. The five-day market features 14 stalls offering daily consumables, utensils, shoes, slippers, and domestic products, according to the SCCI’s president, Netra Prasad Acharya. He expects a notable presence of consumers and visitors from the Bhairahawa and surrounding areas, with transactions estimated to range between Rs. 5-6 million. The market will be open from 11 AM to 7 PM. The main objectives of the market are to provide consumers with affordable, accessible, and quality goods and services in one place, promote the consumption of local and domestic products, raise consumer awareness about fair prices, provide free stalls for offering inexpensive goods, and energise the local market during major festivals such as Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath festivals.
