By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Sept. 24: British Ambassador to Nepal Rob Fenn paid a courtesy call on Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Urban Development, Kul Man Ghising on Tuesday.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation in Singha Durbar, the British Ambassador Fenn congratulated the newly appointed Minister Ghising and wished him a successful tenure.
According to a press statement of the Minister's secretariat, they discussed issues such as friendship and cooperation between Nepal and Britain, UK support in the energy sector, investment prospects in the infrastructure sector, and necessary support for measures to mitigate the problems created by climate change.
Minister Ghising said that the main priorities of the government formed after the Gen-Z movement are reconstruction of the structures damaged due to the movement, holding House of Representative elections and maintaining good governance.
Appreciating the support provided by the UK for Nepal's economic development, he said that the ongoing support for establishing charging stations to increase the use of electric vehicles to make Nepal carbon-free is effective.
Similarly, he urged for cooperation in areas such as studies on how to adopt the public-private partnership investment model, which is considered successful in infrastructure construction in the UK, in Nepal, green hydrogen, and studies on the risk of possible glacial lake eruptions due to climate change.
Stating that the UK is an old friend of Nepal, Nepal's success is the success of his country, Ambassador Fenn said that he would support Nepal's economic transformation.
