Rule of law, constitutionalism should not be bypassed: Speaker, NA Chair

Kathmandu, Sept 11: Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, and National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal have said the rule of law and constitutionalism should not be bypassed while forming the government.     

Issuing a joint press release today, they appealed to all to be committed to more progress, a prosperous and strong democracy addressing the demands of the agitating side.     

They shared that President Ramchandra Paudel has been making efforts to give an outlet to the country through the constitutional process by keeping sovereignty, independence, geographical integrity, and national unity supreme.     

“We are saddened by the loss of lives and properties during the Gen Z demonstration launched on September 8 and 9. We pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the course of agitation and express condolences to the bereaved family members,” reads the statement.     

Wishing a speedy recovery to all the injured ones, they urged the state bodies concerned of the state to ensure all possible treatment for the injured ones.     

Both of them said they are very saddened by the vandalism and arson on public property, including the Federal Parliament building, Singha Durbar, government offices, private houses, media houses, business complexes, as well as historical documents, on September 9. (RSS)
