Locals urged to remain alert with water level rise in Bheri River

By Kul Bahadur Shahi, Jajarkot, July 29: Authorities in Jajarkot have issued a public alert after a noticeable rise in the water level of the Bheri River. 

According to measurements taken by the Bheri Rimna Water Measurement Station in Jajarkot, the water level of the large Bheri River is rising.

District Administration Office, Jajarkot, has urged the general public living in coastal areas to remain vigilant as the water level has reached near the danger level.

Issuing a notice on Tuesday morning, the administration office has urged citizens, farmers, cattle breeders, and travelers living near the riverbanks and coastal areas to take special precautions.

"The flow of water in the river is increasing, and it is essential to exercise caution considering the potential risks," the notice said.

Chief District Officer of Jajarkot, Mekh Bahadur Mangrati said that according to the latest data obtained by Hydrology and Meteorology Forecasting Division, there is a possibility that the water level may rise further.

Therefore, the office has appealed to people not to engage in activities near the riverbanks, not to go to the riverbanks to graze livestock, and not to live in risky areas.

Mangrati said that all police units from Tallo Bagar to Chheda Bazaar in Jajarkot district have been put on alert.

He said that awareness programs have also been conducted through the police in the settlements around the Bheri River and in the Bheri Corridor area.

Administration has also requested local residents to move to safer places if necessary. 

Chief District Officer Mangrati also said that necessary preparations have been made for rescue and relief.

He said that vigilance has been increased in the settlements around the river, especially in some settlements in Bheri Municipality and Nalgad area.

He said that if the situation becomes more complicated, further information will be provided through the information system.
