By Our Correspondent,Kaski, July 19: A poetic play titled ‘Aama’ has been staged in Pokhara Theatre on Friday. The drama will be staged till July 26. The play is said to present the various phases of a mother’s life in an emotional and heartfelt manner.
In the play, several poems by renowned poet Tirtha Shrestha, such as ‘Phulna Napayeka Phulmayaharu’ , ‘Ma Yashodhara’ , ‘Dharsaidharsako Chakravyuhama Budi Aama’, and ‘Bridhashram Baat Aamako Chithi’ have been given a dramatic form.
According to Paribartan, the manager of Pokhara Theatre, the play will take the audience through four important stages of a mother’s life.
The drama ‘Aama’ is divided into four scenes, which vividly portray the dedication, dreams, and struggles of a common Nepali mother through the central character Phulmaya.
In the story, Phulmaya’s childhood friend Sapana is portrayed as a doll, symbolising the unfulfilled desires of the mother. The play poignantly captures her life, burdened by motherhood and responsibilities in her youth, her husband, who went missing in search of peace, and her final years spent in endless waiting for a son who has gone abroad.
In the end, the character Sapana brings the deceased Phulmaya back to life through letters and memories, giving the story a powerful emotional resolution.
Krishti Gurung, Anjali Shahi, Sita Adhikari, Susan Poudel, Dhankaji Shrestha, Ramesh Babu Timilsina, Shree Krishna Bhandari, Srishti Pangeni, and Rahul Shrestha are the artistes.
The play is written and directed by Narayan Neupane, and includes the poetry of Tirtha Shrestha.
