NEPSE increases by 75 points

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 18: With notable fluctuation, the benchmark of share market index has posted a double-digit growth on Thursday, the last trading day of the week.

The NEPSE has increased by 75.84 (2.71 per cent) points and closed at 2,870.63 points today. 

The index increased by 138.82 point over the week. The index increased by 29 points on Sunday, 34.46 points on Tuesday and 34.61 points on Wednesday. However, the NEPSE index has decreased by 35.09 points on Monday.

The sensitive index which measures the performance of group ‘A’ companies also increased by 11.22 points (2.29 per cent) to close at 500.49 points.

With the increase of NEPSE index, the daily turnover has also increased on Thursday. A total of 38,634,350 shares worth Rs. 16.59 billion of 311 companies were bought and sold in 141,434 transactions today. 

On Wednesday, a total of 27,202,862 shares worth Rs. 13.57 billion had been bought and sold. According to NEPSE, the sub-indices of all groups have increased in today’s transaction.

Sub-index of life insurance group posted the highest growth of 417.28 points followed by non-life insurance and manufacturing and processing group whose indices increased by 278.80 points and 216.40 points respectively.

Similarly, sub-index of hotels and tourism rose by 181.25 points, others by 119.87 points, hydropower by 111 points, development banks by 115.87 points and finance by 72.08 points.

The sub-index of microfinance group increased by 130.73 points, banking by 26.72 points, trading by 73.15 points and investment by 3.60 points. The share price of 268 companies increased while the share price of 36 companies decreased in today’s transaction.

Share price of Trade Tower Limited increased by 10 per cent while the share prices of Shuvan Power Limited and Three Star Hydropower Limited increased by 9.99 per cent each.

Similarly, share price of Eastern Hydropower went up by 9.90 per cent and Barahi Hydropower Public Limited by 9 per cent.

However, the share price of NIBL Stable Fund decreased by 7.58 per cent, NIC Asia Flexi CAP Fund by 6.21 per cent and Reliable Samriddhi Yojana by 5.74 per cent.
