By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 18: An art exhibition by veteran artist Kiran Manandhar began on Thursday in collaboration with the Ncell Foundation.
The exhibition is being held simultaneously at the Museum of Nepali Art in Thamel, Kathmandu Art House, Kathmandu Guest House, Patan Museum and KGH Patan.
The exhibition showcases selected paintings created during Manandhar’s nearly five-decade-long artistic journey.
According to the Museum of Nepali Art, the artworks highlight themes of colour, lines, and chaos, capturing various dimensions of different decades.
“The name of the exhibition, Kiran, comes from the artist’s name, which means ‘light’,” said Rajan Shakya, the chief curator of the Museum of Nepali Art. “There is no need to shed more light on light itself as Kiran Manandhar is the light.”
Artist Manandhar expressed that such exhibitions play a significant role in promoting and developing Nepali art and culture.
He believes they are especially important in transferring knowledge, skills, and artistic spirit to the new generation.
“I have organised several exhibitions like this, which not only allow me to interact with audiences but also offer a platform to exchange knowledge about art and culture,” he said.
Bishakha Laxmi Kunwar, Director of Ncell Foundation and Special Projects, expressed her happiness in collaborating with artist Manandhar.
“We are very pleased to collaborate with the Museum of Nepali Art through this exhibition by experienced artist Kiran Manandhar, which contributes to the preservation and promotion of Nepali art. Ncell Foundation is committed to ensuring Nepal’s artistic heritage continues to inspire future generations,” she said.
The exhibition is supported by brands such as Ncell Foundation, Old Durbar, Dochaa, Koseya and Soul Khumbu.
The art exhibition will continue till September.
