Vajra Eco Club receives environmental conservation award

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 13:  Vajra Eco Club, an environmental initiative led by the students of Vajra Academy, Nepal's first green school, has been honoured with the 'Environmental Conservation Award'. The award, along with a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 (Ten Thousand Rupees), was handed over to the club during a special programme held in Kathmandu on Friday.

The award was presented by members of the selection committee, writer and journalist Saroj Ojha and journalist Sukrit Nepal, to Bhupendra Bikram Thapa, Executive Director of Vajra Academy. 

The award fund was established by philanthropic writer and environmental activist Shiva Neupane through the sale of recyclable materials in Melbourne, Australia.

According to the selection committee, Vajra Eco Club was recognized for its diverse and impactful efforts in environmental conservation. The club has been actively involved in creative art exhibitions, competitions, and direct environmental actions. 

Recently, the club also performed a Ramayana-based theatrical drama during the first-ever Sagarmatha Sambaad organized by the Government of Nepal, showcasing a creative approach to raising environmental awareness.
