By Our Correspondent,Nepalgunj, June 30: A coordination meeting of security officials from the bordering districts of Nepal and India was held at the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at the Nepalgunj border point.
The meeting was attended by senior security officials from Bahraich in India and Banke and Bardiya districts in Nepal.
According to Chief District Officer of Banke, Dharmaraj Joshi, the meeting focused on enhancing coordination, cooperation, and the exchange of information between the two countries to effectively curb cross-border crimes and strengthen borde r security.
He further said that the meeting included detailed discussions on measures to prevent and combat the smuggling of narcotics, human trafficking, poaching and smuggling of wildlife and forest products, along with other criminal activities in the border areas.
The meeting also discussed ways to improve border security and to facilitate the smooth and easy movement of people across the border. Emphasis was placed on enhancing information sharing among security agencies and making border security more organised and technologically equipped.
Nepali delegation to the meeting included Banke’s CDO Joshi, Bardiya’s CDO Surendra Paudel, Superintendent of Police of Banke, Ram Prasad Gharti Magar, Armed Police Force Chief of No. 30 Battalion Bageshwari, Senior Superintendent Shobha Kant Khanal, APF Chief of No. 31 Battalion Bardiya, Senior Superintendent Man Bahadur Shahi, Deputy Superintendent of Police in Bardiya Chakra Bahadur Dambarpal, and in charge of Nepal Police at the Jamunaha border point, Police Inspector Upendra Budhathoki.
Likewise, the Indian delegation included Bahraich District Magistrate Monika Rani, Superintendent of Police Ram Nayan Singh, and Commandant of the 42nd Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Nanpara, Ganga Singh Rawat and other representatives.
