By Bijay Kumar Sah,Dalkebar, June 26: A youth who had climbed a high-tension electricity transmission tower along the Bandipur–Babatal road section in Karjanha Municipality-1, Siraha, near Dhanusha border, was rescued safely by police on Wednesday morning.

According to Siraha District Police, local residents spotted the youth atop the tower around 7:00 am and immediately alerted authorities.

Acting swiftly upon receiving the report, a police team reached the site and carried out the rescue operation with the assistance of technical personnel from the Nepal Electricity Authority’s Dalkebar Grid Division.

Inspector Santosh Budhathoki of the Area Police Office, Mirchaiya, said that the youth had climbed to the uppermost part of the transmission tower, making the rescue particularly hazardous.

“It took nearly three hours of coordinated effort to bring him down safely,” said Inspector Budhathoki.

He further said that the identity of the youth is yet to be confirmed. "He appears to be around 22 years old and of Indian nationality. We suspect he may be suffering from mental health issues,” the inspector added.

The rescued individual is currently undergoing preliminary medical examination and treatment at the government hospital in Mirchaiya. Though unable to speak, the youth wrote the name ‘Subhash Yadav’ on a piece of paper. However, authorities have not confirmed whether this is his actual name or someone else’s.

Efforts are ongoing to establish the youth’s identity and mental condition, and further investigation is underway, Inspector Budhathoki said.
