Industry, Commerce Promotion Council Order approved

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 26: The government has endorsed the ‘Industry and Commerce Promotion Council Order-2025.’ 

The decision was announced during a press briefing held at Singha Durbar on Wednesday by Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung.

Minister Gurung said that the decision was taken during the Cabinet meeting convened on Monday (June 23). Among other key resolutions, the government approved the participation of the Minister for Water Supply in the upcoming high-level event titled “Unlocking Water and Sanitation Financing Through the Heads of State Initiative”, scheduled to take place in Seville, Spain from June 29 to July 3.

Additionally, the Cabinet meeting decided to extend the tenure of Deputy Inspector Generals of the Armed Police Force, Kalidas Dhaubaji and Kumar Neupane.

Further decisions included the extension of tenure for two Major Generals of the Nepali Army, the promotion of one Brigadier General to Major General (Gaurav Kumar KC), and the transfer of two Major Generals. 

According to Minister Gurung, the Cabinet meeting has decided to form one high-level study and investigation committee under the coordination of former Chief Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi. 

This seven-member committee—comprising joint secretaries from various ministries—will be tasked with identifying and resolving longstanding issues related to immigration and visit visas, according to the Minister.

Furthermore, the Cabinet approved the participation of the Minister for Foreign Affairs Arzu Rana Deuba in the 44th session of the FAO Conference to be held in Rome, Italy from June 27 to July 13, as well as in investment promotion programmes to be organised by Investment Board Nepal in Italy and Germany.

The government also approved the Remuneration, Terms of Service, and Operational Provisions of the Debt Recovery Tribunal–2025. Approval was granted for the participation of the Minister for Women, Children, and Senior Citizens in the 36th Nepal Day event scheduled for June 28 in Bonn, Germany.

In recognition of international achievements, the Cabinet meeting authorised awards and honours for 27 individuals—including medal-winning athletes, coaches, assistant coaches, and team managers—who represented Nepal in volleyball, wushu, and kabaddi.

The Cabinet also approved the Sixth Amendment to the Regulation on Honorary Consuls–2025, according to the Minister.

The government granted approval for the submission of a bill to amend the Nepal Veterinary Council Act-1999 to the Federal Parliament. Additionally, the National Sports Policy–2025 and the National Strategy for Statistical System Development (2024/25 to 2028/29) were approved.

The government also approved the visit of Pokhara Metropolitan City’s Mayor Dhanraj Acharya to participate in the Sister Cities Cooperation and Exchange Meeting being held in Lhasa, People’s Republic of China, from June 23 to 25.

In a series of administrative reshuffles, the Cabinet decided to reassign senior secretaries. As per the decision, Bharatmani Subedi to the position of Secretary at the National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission, Mahadev Pantha as Secretary of the Election Commission Nepal, Shobha Kant Paudel as Auditor General at the Office of the Auditor General, and Dr. Khagendra Prasad Subedi as Chief Secretary at the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers of Gandaki Province.
