BY A STAFF REPORTER,Kathmandu, June20: Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav has lauded the Nepal Scouts for their ongoing contribution to fostering discipline, leadership, and a spirit of service among the nation’s youth.

Speaking at a special ceremony held at the Nepal Scouts Headquarters in Lainchaur, Kathmandu, on the occasion of the organisation's 74th anniversary, on Thursday, Vice President Yadav highlighted the scouts’ significant role in developing responsible, self-reliant, and service-oriented citizens.

“The continuous efforts of Nepal Scouts have played a vital role in shaping children, adolescents, and young adults into individuals with strong character and a deep sense of social responsibility,” he said.

He further said that under the Scouts Act 1993, Nepal Scouts had been instrumental in steering youth towards moral, intellectual, and social development. The Vice President also acknowledged the contributions of over 50,000 active volunteer scouts who are mobilised across all seven provinces and 753 local levels through an extensive nationwide network.

The Vice President also praised Nepal Scouts’ initiatives in combating drug abuse, raising awareness on adolescent health, campaigning against gender-based violence, and disaster risk management. “The participation of Nepal Scouts members in national and international programmes has helped elevate Nepal’s identity on the global stage, which is truly commendable,” he added.

Emphasising the importance of disaster preparedness, volunteerism, and women’s leadership, Vice President Yadav called the organisation’s proactive engagement in these areas a strong source of inspiration.

The Vice President expressed his hope that the journey of Nepal Scouts would continue to be even more impactful, inclusive, and enriched with innovative achievements in the years ahead.
