Kathmandu, May 4 : Adverse weather caused by rain disrupted the today's flight schedule at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
Low visibility affected not only
TIA but also several other airports across the country. According to TIA
spokesperson Rinji Sherpa, both domestic and international flight operations
remained affected today and could not proceed as scheduled.
Several flights, including
international services, had to be diverted due to en-route weather disturbances
this morning. An Air Jazeera flight was diverted to Varanasi, India, while
Buddha Air's scheduled mountain flight was also diverted.
In addition, three flights operated
by Summit Air and Tara Air, which were scheduled to fly to Lukla from
Ramechhap, had to be rerouted. A flight on the Kathmandu–Thamkharka route was
also diverted due to adverse weather.
The Kathmandu Valley experienced
light rainfall since early morning. The situation has now been normal following
the cessation of rainfall.
Presently, Nepal’s weather pattern
is being influenced by a combination of westerly and local winds, along with
moisture-laden air coming from the Bay of Bengal, which is contributing to the
unstable weather conditions, as stated by the Department of Hydrology and
Meteorology. (RSS)
