By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Apr 30: Police arrested Patron of Nagarik Unmukti Party, Resham Lal Chaudhary, on Wednesday.
Chaudhary was arrested from the Nepal Academy premises.
Chaudhary reached the Academy for a programme to announce the merger of Nagarik Unmukti Party and Janamat Party. Kathmandu Police SSP Bishwa Raj Adhikari confirmed the arrest of Chaudhary.
President Ramchandra Paudel pardoned the remaining jail term of Resham Chaudhary on Constitution Day (2023). He was convicted in 2017 for masterminding the Tikapur massacre. Eight people, including a two-year-old toddler, Senior Superintendent of Police Laxman Neupane, were killed on August 24, 2015, in the Tikapur massacre.
After his release, a writ petition was filed by the wife, Sharada Kadayat Bohora, of police inspector Keshav Bohara, who lost his life in the clash between the people and the police, challenging the pardon of the President.
According to the Kathmandu Police SSP Adhikari, Chaudhary was arrested and taken to Dillibazaar after the Supreme Court ordered his immediate detention during the hearing of the writ petition.
