By Ekindra Timilsena, Tikapur, April 29: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said that there is no chance for the monarchy to return as people have already written their constitution which provisions that sovereignty lies with people.

Addressing a public gathering at Jhunga in Tikapur Municpality-9, the leader of the main opposition party also said that the Terai-Madhes Awareness Campaign was for good governance and social justice and against corruption and discrimination.

Leader Prachanda was here to address the public gathering as part of the Campaign.

"It was a time when one would be king no matter what his intelligence, morality, wisdom and capacity was. But, people have done away with that feudal system of monarchy and written their constitution that stipulates that sovereignty lies with people, not with any king as in the past. Despite all this, now, there are plots to bring back monarchy, which will never materialize," said Prachanda.

He said the reactionaries resorted to arson, looting and violence after they saw a huge public demonstration of the revolutionaries in Kathmandu on March 28.

The former Prime Minister said that his party was working to strengthen economy from the foundation, local level.

"Progress to make economy strong from foundation can be seen in the local levels where the Maoist party has been elected. We should note, metropolis that becomes best in evaluation conducted by authorized institution is the one where the Maoist party has won, and there are many such examples with regard to municipality and rural municipality," he said.
