Rekha Thapa making debut in theatre with Meera

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 29: Actress Rekha Thapa is about to make her debut in theatre.

 Her debut will be through the opening play ‘Meera’ at the newly established Kantipur Theatre of Kantipur Film Academy.

The play, based on Deepak Sinjali’s novel Meera, tells the story of a woman’s rebellion against her family and society. 

The theatrical adaptation and direction will be done by Sundar Dhital.

Kantipur Film Academy laid the foundation stone for its own theatre at Naxal, Gairidhara, last month. Actor Rajesh Hamal inaugurating the project. 

The academy has announced that Meera will be staged as the opening play of the theatre. 

According to the academy, reading sessions and rehearsals for the play are currently going on. 

The play is scheduled to be staged from May 29.
