Prachanda observes earthquake photo exhibition in Barpak

blog

By Our Correspondent,Sulikot, Apr. 26: A photo exhibition related to the earthquake in Barpak, Gorkha, was held on Friday.

Former Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Centre) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda observed the photo exhibition.

The photo editor of Kantipur Media Group, Prakash Chandra Timilsena, organised an exhibition showcasing photogrpaqhs of the devastating earthquake on April 25, 2015, capturing the destruction caused by the earthquake in the area.

While observing the photographs depicting the time of the earthquake and the reconstruction afterwards, former Prime Minister Dahal became emotional.

He reflected on the destruction of structures, the daily life of the locals during that time, the post-earthquake reconstruction, and the situation in Barpak and its people. He remembered those who lost their lives and those who were injured in the earthquake.

On the occasion of Memorial Day, he paid tribute to the deceased and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Barpak, which lost 72 lives in the earthquake, has now started to recover.

Like other affected settlements, Barpak too has structures that were once destroyed but are now being rebuilt.

Tragically, the traditional stone houses, which were once attractive, have disappeared in Barkpak these days.
