Kathmandu, April 22: Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration, Raj Kumar Gupta, has said the government was positive towards the indigenous peoples.
Minister Gupta said so in the 24th session of UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues organized at New York-based UN Headquarters on Monday. Minister Gupta is in New York leading the Nepali delegation to the session.
On the occasion, Minister Gupta held bilateral meetings with Deputy Prime Ministers, Foreign Ministers and Ministers of different countries, said Spokesperson of the Ministry, Kali Prasad Parajuli.
During the meeting, they discussed the various aspects of mutual welfare and interest as well as expanding further relations and collaborating in coming days, Parajuli mentioned.
In the 24th session of the Forum, discussion was held on various issues related to economic and social development, culture and environment conservation, education, health and human rights.
Similarly, Minister Gupta is scheduled to address the event on the theme: "Implementing the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples within United Nations Member States and the United Nations system, including identifying good practices and addressing challenges.”(RSS)
