blog

Kathmandu, April 20: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said the preservation of culture must be paid heed. Proper protection of historical documents helps preserve culture, he added.

Receiving the 'RSS Photo Book: 16 years of Republic' published by the RSS at his residence, Baluwatar today, PM Oli viewed culture is followed both for pursuit of knowledge and recreation. "Culture is an inseparable asset of humankind. Proper knowledge of culture helps protect history and humanity," PM Oli reminded, applauding RSS's initiative to this end.

Culture becomes a medium to ensure relief to us when we are at stress, he reiterated.

On the occasion, Executive Chairman of RSS, Dharmendra Jha, shared that the photo book was released on the occasion of the Loktantra Day. The book has incorporated the pictures the RSS had taken on range of issues like art, culture, development and infrastructure. The achievements Nepal made in the last 16 since the establishment of Republic are reflected well in the book, he added, arguing that this is a testament that foils discouraging remark on country's development.

The Executive Chairman reminded that the photo book could be a fine gift to the foreign guests as well. He requested the Head of the Government to extend support to RSS for printing additional copies of it which RSS had published despite limited financial resources.

There are 182 photos taken by 90 journalists that capture Nepal's ethnicities, lingual communities, geography, religion, culture, and works of infrastructure development.

PM Oli observed the photos with keen interest on the occasion.

Together with Chairman Jha to hand over the photo book were General Manager Siddha Raj Rai, Chief Editor Uttam Silwal, Administrative Chief Shital Mahato, Chief Reporter Narayan Prasad Neupane, senior reporter Prakash Silwal, reporter Kalika Khadka and photojournalist Bikalpa Dahal.

The photo book has already been handed over to many dignitaries including the President.(RSS)
