Daunne road blocked, Minister Dahal stuck in jam

By Bomlal Giri,Nawalpur, Apr. 19The Narayanghat-Butwal road section has been blocked for the 23 hours.  The District Traffic Office has said that traffic has been blocked for 23 hours due to slippery roads following pre-monsoon rainfall in the Daunne section on Thursday. 

Passengers have said that the journey along the 14-kilometre road section between Bardaghat and Dumkibas in Nawalpur has become very difficult due to the blockage.

The road near Ghyukhola in Daunne has become slippery after the rain on Thursday morning, according to traffic police inspector Janak Raj Banjara of the District Traffic Office.

Hundreds of passengers have been stranded as the road has been completely blocked.

The road has been blocked since 11:00 am on Thursday and traffic has not been operational yet, according to the District Police Chief, Superintendent of Police Yadav Dhakal. 

About three feet of dust and mud had accumulated on the road that was demolished during the widening of the highway. After the rain, the dust turned into mud and the road became slippery.

On Thursday, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal was also stuck in a traffic jam for four hours. 

Police said that Minister Dahal was rescued and taken to Chitwan at 8:00 pm. Minister Dahal was on his way to Narayangadh from Butwal when he got stuck in a traffic jam at Daunne.
