Kathmandu, April 10: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Arzu Rana Deuba said that the ministry is working through a separate division to promote economic diplomacy.
Addressing the 59th annual general meeting of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry on Thursday, she expressed Nepal's commitment to strengthening economic diplomacy in order to attract foreign investment to tap into the country's potential opportunities.
She stressed the need for collaboration between the government and the private sector to create a favorable investment climate to attract more foreign investment. “Be it the recent BIMSTEC conference held in Bangkok or during the Prime Minister’s visit to China, Nepal’s private sector had interacted with industrialists and businessmen. As a participant, I witnessed genuine interest from foreign industrialists and businesspersons in investing in Nepal. We all should work to attract them to Nepal.”
Dr Rana said she was effortful in attracting foreign investments through economic diplomacy, highlighting Nepal's ample investment potential in energy, tourism, tourism infrastructure construction, information technology. She called for active support and cooperation of the private sector in this regard.
She advocated for encouraging investors and promoting entrepreneurship to help make Nepal economically strong.
Stating that the strength of the country and the government is inherently linked to the strength of the private sectpr, Dr Rana expressed the government's priority on collaboration with the private sector for the country's prosperity.
