Police officer Sherpa scaling Sagarmatha

Kathmandu, Apr. 8: Inspector General of Nepal Police Deepak Thapa handed over a police flag to lady Sub-Inspector Kunjang Chhopel Sherpa of the Cyber Bureau, who is preparing to embark on an expedition to scale Mt. Everest, the highest peak in the World, along with her expedition team.

 In a formal event held on Monday at the Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal, IGP Thapa handed over a banner of Nepal Police bearing the message against gender-based violence to SI Sherpa, conveying his best wishes for a safe, pleasant and successful journey.

On the occasion, Senior Superintendent of Police Ranju Sigdel from the Directorate of Women, Children and Senior Citizens Services under the Crime Investigation Department of the Police HQ, provided a brief overview of both the campaign against gender based violence and the climbing initiative.

The programme was also attended by Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Tek Bahadur Tamang, Deputy Inspector Generals, the Managing Director of Glacier Himalaya Trek and Expedition Pvt. Ltd., and other senior police officials, according to the Police Headquarters.
