Govt invites protesting teachers for talks

Kathmandu, April 3: Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has called the agitating teachers for talks. Spokesperson of the Ministry, Shiv Kumar Sapkota, in a statement issued today, urged the Nepal Teachers' Union to leave the protest and find a solution through dialogue.     

"We warmly welcome the representatives to the ministry as the government is ready to hold relevant discussions and build common understanding with the teaching community again as in the past," he said.     

The Ministry's attention has been drawn to the issue that has been drawing attention from teachers and staff working in community schools for some time, demanding that the Bill, 2080 to amend and consolidate the law on school education should be passed as soon as possible. The bill is in the process of being discussed in the House of Representatives.     

Spokesperson Sapkota mentioned that the Ministry has always been positive in conveying a collective message for the school education bill as it is awaiting approval. "Since the draft of the bill has been prepared through due discussion and consultation with the representatives of the teachers' community, it is natural to expect the school education bill to be released soon and the interest of the teachers and staff in this matter," he has said in the statement.(RSS)
