Kathmandu, March 30: Chairperson of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal, Upendra Yadav, has argued that a strong and institutional democracy is the alternative to democratic republic.
At a programme organized here Sunday, Chair Yadav pointed out the need of review why questions were being raised on present governance system. He described the recent Tinkune incident as expression of anger towards unstable government and non-fulfillment of people's aspirations.
"Various machinations are hatched against federal democratic republic in Nepal. So, time has come to correct the mistakes seen in course of implementing the system", Chair Yadav underlined. Stressing the need of thinking seriously why people are demonstrating in favour of monarchy, he shared, "The government's seriousness is essential to steer country towards the path of prosperity through economic development."
Similarly, Nepali Congress leader Gopal Man Shrestha demanded action against those involved in the Tinkune incident in the name of former king. The violent activities are sad and condemnable, he added.
The leaders were speaking at a programme organized on the 27th anniversary of the Reporters' Club Nepal.(RSS)
