Release of Nepali Congress (NC) leader Sujata Koirala's autobiographical piece 'Ma Ra Mero Sano Buwa (Me & My Younger Father)'

Kathmandu, March 25: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Sujata Koirala's autobiographical piece 'Ma Ra Mero Sano Buwa (Me & My Younger Father)' has been released amidst a programme in the capital today.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli launched the book, authored by Koirala, on the occasion of the 15th Memorial Day of former President of the NC and former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala.

At the launching event, PM Oli said the tendency of considering an individual the institution was a feudal thinking.

He further said it was backward thinking to consider any individual or his/her family legacy as the institution. "The ancestors of all Nepalis had built the country by fighting. It was not made by any particular individual. The only thing is someone might had taken the lead", he said, underlining the need to set a shared destination towards building the nation despite differing opinions.

The autobiographical book can be useful to know at length about the life of Girija Prasad Koirala and Sujata Koirala, the PM noted.

Also speaking on the occasion, NC President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba recalled ups and downs of his political relations with Girija Prasad Koirala and said he first met Koirala in Nakkhu jail in 2025 BS. He admitted Girija Prasad's contribution to build his leadership in the party.

"Girija Babu was untiring, militant and determined in nature. I had an opportunity to work with him for several decades", Deuba said, adding he and Girija Prasad had fought together against the autocratic rule of the then King Gyanendra.

NC leader Dr Shekhar Koirala referred to the contribution of former Prime Minister Girija Prasad to bring the country to the peace process putting the Maoist's armed struggle to an end.

"We have not learnt any lessons from the past, now there is a coalition government of NC and UML. We should at least work for good governance", he asserted.

NC joint general secretary and lawmaker Bhishma Raj Angdambe stressed the need of ending the factional feuds seen in the party.

NC leader Dr Shashank Koirala commemorated Girija Prasad Koirala as a steadfast leader with the sense of sacrifice and struggles for the country and people's sake.

Leader Sujata Koirala said that the autobiographical 'Ma Ra Mero Sano Buwa' was an outcome of rigorous research efforts. She said that her autobiography covers a gamut of topics related to her family and country's politics.(RSS)
