By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 25: Filmmaker Nischal Basnet has recorded a new song for the upcoming Nepali film Mahabhoj, released on May 29.

He recently recorded the song titled Lalumai at a Studio in Kathmandu. The song features lyrics by Hark Saud and music by Ketan Kshetri.

The film Mahabhoj is directed by Dinesh Raut.

Raut’s 2017 film Parva allowed Nischal Basnet to be recognised as ‘Kale Dai’ through the hit song Kale Dai.

Basnet had lent his voice to the song and danced alongside choreographer Mala Limbu. The song has been viewed 63 million times on YouTube to date.

According to director Dinesh Raut, Nischal Basnet was the perfect choice for Lalumai due to his unique vocal tone.

He said, “When Nischal sang for the song in Parva eight years ago, it was a unique experience.  Since Lalumai also required a distinct vocal tone, I decided to have him sing it.” Raut further claimed that while Basnet was previously known as Kale Dai, he will now gain a new identity as Lalumai.

Raut’s latest directorial project Mahabhoj marks his eighth film, following his recent film Pujar Sarki.

Audiences have high expectations for this upcoming film, which stars Aryan Sigdel, Dayahang Rai, Khagendra Lamichhane, Anjana Baraili, Gaumaya Gurung, Malika Mahat, Basundhara Bhusal, Mohan Niraula, Buddhi Tamang, Kamal Mani Nepal, Pushkar Gurung, Binod Neupane, Abha Aryal, and Birendra Singh Kushwaha, among others.

The script is written by Bikas Subedi, cinematography is done by Rajesh Shrestha and the editing by Nimesh Shrestha.
